McDonald recalls being assigned to the Lufthansa case in December and explains why DeSimone was allegedly killed soon after: John Gotti and the Gambino family could not tolerate the murders of Billy Batts and “Foxy” Gerardi, both tied to Gambino interests.McDonald says early rumors blamed Jimmy for Tommy’s disappearance, but Henry Hill’s cooperation and informants later confirmed DeSimone had been executed. He describes the real “Two Guns Tommy” as a physically imposing, violent figure whose brutality was not exaggerated onscreen.
