In a video statement posted online, UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said he had just come out of a meeting about Gaza with people who had been there “on the ground”, describing what is unfolding in the territory as “horrific”.

Miliband said he was told stories of “medicines blocked, children dying while waiting for lifesaving treatment”.

He concluded by saying that the UK government should “act more decisively than they have”.
